school health
School Nurses and comprehensive school health programs are the best investments a community can make in our children's future health and well being. School Nurses, who are Professional Registered Nurses (RNs), have the knowledge and skills to manage and coordinate the health services that are essential for students to maintain and achieve the highest level of health possible. The RN works collaboratively with other persons in the school setting as well as parents and the community.
The School Nurse assumes a leadership role in planning, implementing, and evaluating the school health program and may work in conjunction with School Nurse Managers, Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), school personnel, volunteers, and community groups to provide school health services.
